Rasionalitas Kebertahananmigran Urban Bermukim Di Kawasan Slum Area Kelurahan Sukaramai Kota Pekanbaru
This study was conducted with the aim of determining the rationality of the survival of urban migrants living in slum areas and the background of urban migrants living in slum areas with a qualitative descriptive approach. The theory used is James S. Coleman's rational choice theory, which explains that every individual action is based on rational considerations of the goals and resources available. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study consisted of 6 main informants, namely migrant households (newcomers) who live in rented slum areas in the area and 1 key informant, namely the Head of the RT who was selected by Purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Hubermas model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the main reasons migrants chose and remained in the area were economic factors, location accessibility, social recommendations, and proximity to markets and workplaces. Although environmental conditions are classified as uninhabitable, migrant communities persist because of rational considerations of available resources.
