Mutu Buah Kelapa Jenis Kelapa Dalam (Cocos Nucifera L.) Berdasarkan Umur Tanaman
ABSTRACT
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is a strategic plantation crop in Indonesia that plays
an important role in social, economic, and industrial aspects. Indragiri Hilir
Regency is the largest producer of tall coconut in Riau Province; however, its
productivity declines as the trees age. This study aims to analyze the quality of tall
coconut fruits based on plant age in Tembilahan Hulu District, Indragiri Hilir
Regency. The research was conducted using a non-experimental comparative
observational approach, aiming to compare the quality of tall coconut fruits based
on plant age with three age treatments 15 years, 20 years, and 25 years. The
results showed that plant age significantly affects endosperm thickness, oil yield,
and moisture content. Tall coconut trees aged 25 years produced the best fruit
quality, with greater endosperm thickness, higher oil yield, and lower moisture
content compared to younger trees. However, other parameters such as the
number of bunches, fruit weight, and fruit circumference did not show significant
differences. These findings indicate that plant age influences coconut fruit quality,
with 25-year-old trees producing the best fruits in Tembilahan Hulu District,
Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study provides recommendations for coconut
farmers to optimize cultivation strategies in order to improve production and fruit
quality.
