kajian pemanfaatan sesai di desa buruk bakul, kecamatan bukit batu, kabupaten bengkalis, provinsi riau menjadi media tanam
Sesai is a small piece of wood that comes from dead mangroves and coastal activities whose movement is influenced by tides. Sesai inhibits the growth of mangrove saplings and even causes the death of mangrove saplings. The purpose of (1) the study was to determine the potential of sesai to be used as an organic planting medium, (2) determine the social perceptions and economic perceptions of the community towards sesai as a planting medium and (3) analyze the study of the utilization of sesai into planting media. The research method is a mixed method. The experimental method uses a completely randomized design (CRD) analysis in testing the height growth of horticultural plants (kale and spinach) and mangrove propagules. The survey method is used on social and economic aspects. The results of the analysis show the abundant potential of sesai, has the opportunity to increase utilization into environmentally friendly planting media with the availability of a total volume of sesai of 39,029.5 m³ with an average volume per location of 2,295.8 m³. NPK content analysis (0.41%, 19.44 mg/100g and 21.84 mg/100g). Social perceptions showed community initiative through survey results which showed that 64% of respondents gave a good response. Economic perception by utilizing sesai as a planting medium has the potential to provide a profit of Rp.3,000 per unit, opening up opportunities for increased income for the people of Buruk Bakul Village. The test results of horticultural crops are the optimal height growth of kale in treatment K2 (soil mixture and sesai) of 25.3 cm and spinach in treatment B3 (sesai) of 17 cm. While the lowest height growth in kale in treatment K1 (soil) amounted to 22.6 cm and spinach in treatment B2 (soil mixture den sesai) amounted to 14.1 cm. High growth for mangrove propagules was most optimal in treatment L (mud) at 23,3 cm and CSL (mud mixture) at 23 cm. Conversely, the lowest growth in the treatment CTL (Mixed Soil Mud) amounted to 19,8 cm.The conclusion is that the potential for sesai in Buruk Bakul Village is large, reaching 39,029.5 m³ with an average of 2,295.8 m³ per location in the coastal area. The survey showed 64% of respondents supported the utilization of sesai, reflecting good social acceptance. Economically, its use as a planting medium could potentially provide a profit of IDR 3,000 per unit. In this study, nutrient contents such as nitrate, phosphate and potassium in sesai were analyzed and showed high values. In addition, growth tests of horticultural crops were conducted, where the best treatment was obtained for kale with K2 media (mixture of soil and sesai), spinach in treatment B3 (pure sesai), and mangrove propagules in mud media and a mixture of mud and sesai.
