Pengaruh Jenis Mulsa Organik Dan Waktu Penyiangan Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Kedelai (Glycine Max L.)
ABSTRACT
The demand for soybeans will increase in line with population growth. Efforts to increase production can be achieved through intensification by improving cultivation techniques, including modifying the microclimate using organic mulch and controlling weeds through timely weeding. This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction between organic mulch type and weeding time on soybean growth and yield, as well as to obtain the best treatment combination. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from December 2024 to March 2025 using a completely randomized factorial design. The first factor was the type of organic mulch (no mulch, straw mulch, grass mulch), and the second factor was the weeding time (1 time at 15 days after sowing, 2 times at 15 and 30 days after sowing, and 3 times at 15, 30, and 45 days after sowing). The results showed a significant effect of mulch type and weeding time on the number of branches and percentage of pods in soybean plants. The best combination for improving soybean growth and yield in this study was the application of organic mulch with weeding twice at 15 and 30 days after planting.
