Hubungan Antara Polimorfisme Gen Interleukin-10 (-1082) Dan Skor Albumin Bilirubin Pada Pasien Hepatitis B Kronik Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau

Hepatitis B is the infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV). The natural
history of hepatitis B is highly influenced by the host immune response against infected
hepatocytes. IL-10 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that plays a role in the regulation
of immune response. Patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) have a high risk to
progress to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) which have
a high mortality rate due to liver failure. The degrees of liver dysfunction can be
examined based on the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score. Previous studies have
indicated that the IL-10 gene polymorphism (- 1082 G/A) is related to the clinical
manifestations of CHB and the susceptibility to HBV infection. This research aimed to
determine the relation between the IL-10 gene polymorphism (-1082) and the ALBI
score in CHB patients at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital, Riau Province. This was
an analytical study with a cross- sectional design conducted from March 2020 to April
2021 and included 76 patients with CHB. Serum albumin and total bilirubin levels
were measured using colorimetric assay method and IL-10 gene polymorphisms were
detected by Amplification Refractory Mutation System-Polymerase Chain Reaction
(ARMS- PCR) method. The results showed that there a significant relationship
between the genotype distribution of the IL-10 gene polymorphism with the incidence
of complications in CHB patients. Most of the study subjects who had good ALBI
scores were patients with uncomplicated CHB (75%) while moderate-poor ALBI
scores were dominated by CHB patients with cirrhosis of 55.2%.Statistical analysis
showed that there was no significant relationship between IL-10 gene polymorphism (-
1082) and ALBI scores among CHB patients at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital,
Riau Province (p>0,05).
