Studi Populasi Macan Dahan (Neofelis Diardi) Dengan Bantuan Kamera Jebak Di Pt Alam Bukit Tigapuluh, Kabupaten Tebo, Jambi
The clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi) population is currently in a very alarming and endangered condition. This study aims to determine the population structure of clouded leopards in the Bukit Tigapuluh. The research was conducted from November 2024 to January 2025 at Pt Alam Bukit Tigapuluh in 4 different phases, namely phase 1 in October 2020-January 2021, phase 2 in July 2021-November 2021, phase 3 in November 2022-March 2023, and phase 4 in December 2023-March 2024. The research method used camera traps installed as many as 18-22 units in 22 grids, then the data were analyzed using the SECR method through the density program. the results showed, in the third phase there were 9 clouded leopards (Neofelis diardi) all males. The population of this species was recorded at 7.89 individuals/100 km2, indicating a high level of abundance in the study area. The vertical distribution pattern of clouded leopards showed that they preferred to live at altitudes above 100 masl and were not found at altitudes >600 masl, indicating that there is an ecological elevation limit for this species in the area. In addition, the daily activities of the clouded leopards suggest that they are a nocturnal species. These findings suggest that the main activities of clouded leopards occur throughout the night, from 19.00 to 07.00, which is in accordance with the ecological characteristics of clouded leopards that are usually more active at night in activities such as movement, hunting, and exploring their territory. Based on the research there is still a population of clouded leopards in PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh.
