Preparasi Dan Karakterisasi Nanopartikel Oksida Besi Didoping Nikel Dari Pasir Alam Pantai Ampalu Pariaman
Preparation of iron oxide nanoparticles from natural sand of Ampalu Pariaman
beach, West Sumatra has been done using ball milling method. The structural and
morphological properties and magnetic susceptibility were measured using X-Ray
Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and PS-2162 Pasco
probe, respectively. The sand was first processed using an Irond Sand Separator (ISS)
and followed by NdFeB magnets in order to separate between iron oxide and non iron oxide
particles. The NdFeB product was milled using ball milling for 3 stages and each stage the
product was processed using NdFeB magnets and the final product is called BM3 product.
The BM3 product was divided into 5 parts with the same amount of weight and each was
doped using Nickel with concentrations of 0 wt.%, 5 wt.%, 10 wt.%, 15 wt.% and 20 wt.%
then the result is called BM 4A, BM 4B, BM 4C, BM 4D and BM 4E product. The BM
4A, BM 4B, BM 4C products were selected to be characterized using XRD and SEM. The
magnetic susceptibility of the sample was determined based on the magnetic induction
value (Bo) and total magnetic induction value (BT) of the solenoid. The results showed that
susceptibility increases with increasing doping concentration. The results of XRD analysis
show that the BM 4 products contain magnetite (Fe3O4) phase which has a cubic structure.
The average crystallite size of the sample was calculated based on the Scherrer equation
where the average crystallite size decreases that is 27.5592 nm, 27.4856 nm and 22.5637
nm with an increase in doping concentration of 0 wt.%, 5 wt.%, 10 wt. %, respectively.
The results of SEM analysis showed that the particle size varied from 740 nm, 880 nm and
1220 nm with an increase in copper concentration of 0 wt.%, 5 wt.% and 10 wt.%,
respectively.
