ABSTRACT
The agricultural sector is an important sector in improving the national economy. Food crop farming, especially rice, is very vulnerable to climate change. Agricultural insurance is an alternative risk management instrument that is worth considering, but not all farmers are AUTP participants. This study aims to (1) identify rice farmers' perceptions of the Rice Farming Insurance program in Nagari Andaleh and (2) analyze the factors that influence the participation of rice farmers in the Rice Farming Insurance program (AUTP) in Nagari Andaleh. The analysis used to answer the first objective in this study is to use a quantitative descriptive analysis, guided by the Likert Scale. The analysis used to answer the second objective is Logistic Binary analysis. The results of this study indicate that the perception of rice farmers who are not AUTP participants towards the AUTP program is not good, while the perceptions of rice farmers who are AUTP participants about the AUTP program are good. The factors that influence farmer participation in the AUTP program in Nagari Andaleh are the characteristics of the farmers and the socialization factor of the AUTP program. Variables that significantly influence farmers' participation in participating in the AUTP program are education, farming experience, values and norms and participation in AUTP socialization, while variables that do not significantly influence farmers' decisions in participating in the AUTP program are age, number of family dependents, income, land area , labor and crop failure intensity.
