ABSTRACT
The need for energy is increasing every day, but at the same time there is a crisis
of non-renewable energy sources. Therefore, research on renewable energy has
received a lot of attention and has become the main topic of research around the
world. Sunshine is one type of renewable energy that will never run out anytime.
sunshine produces radiation to the earth, but the radiation produced by the sun is
very large and has not been widely used at this time. So at this time began to develop
research on the use of solar radiation for agricultural needs or human needs in this
world. One of the uses that have been carried out by researchers at this time is the
drying of agricultural products because agricultural products are very vulnerable
or easily damaged so that the researchers have thought to take advantage of the
radiation produced by the sun by capturing solar radiation using a solar dryer that
uses a solar dryer. can convert solar radiation energy into heat energy thereby
increasing the enthalpy of air. Thermal energy storage or heat is a system with a
medium used to store heat from the environment into the storage system. Heat
energy storage works when the ambient temperature is higher than the system and
vice versa. The quality of heat energy storage is highly dependent on the
characteristics of the materials used. The heat energy storage system is divided into
two, namely the sensible heat storage system and the latent heat storage system.
The material used as a latent heat store is known as a phase change material
(PCM). In this research Paraffin Wax was used as a heat storage which would
supply heat for drying which would be carried out at night. In this study, the
efficiency of a solar green house with paraffin wax was 49.05%, a solar dryer with
paraffin wax was 34.92%, a solar dryer without paraffin wax was 21.66%. From
the efficiency above, it can be concluded that the use of paraffin wax as a heat

storage medium for drying is quite good for storage and supplies heat that has been
absorbed during drying at night.
