Diabetes Melitus type 2 is a type of diabetes that is more common and has
more suffers than other types of diabetes melitus. DM type 2 is caused by the
body's inability to respond the insulin or called insulin resistance. Insulin
resistance causes hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia which cause degradation
of uric acid excretion function in the kidney tubules, causing an increase in uric
acid levels or hyperuricemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the
description of uric acid levels in patients with diabetes type 2. The research used
descriptive method with retrospective study design. The sample selection is done
by purposive sampling method. Examination of uric acid levels using the uricase-
PAP method with Cobas c311. The results of the study of 62 research subjects
found that the characteristics of DM type 2 patients most were at the age of 45-
65 years (64.5%), female (54.8%), long suffered from DM ≤ 5 years (51,6%) and
HbA1c level ≥ 7% (59.7%). In DM type 2 patients who experience hyperuricemia
most in age range 45-65 years (40%), female (41.2%), long suffered from DM> 5
years (46.7%) and HbA1c level ≥ 7% (40.5%). From this study it can be
concluded that an increase of uric acid levels in patients with DM type 2.
