ABSTRACT
This research was conducted from March to April 2020, in the Nipah
Panjang I Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Jambi Province. The purpose
of this study was to find out how to operate the basic lampara fishing gear and to
determine the composition of the catch. The method used during this research is
the survey method. The survey method was carried out by direct observation of
the operation of the basic lampara fishing gear, the composition of the catch and
interviews with fishermen.
Various types of fishing gear are operated in Tanjung Jabung Timur,
precisely in the Nipah Panjang I Village, in the form of basic lampara, kurau nets,
three-layer nets (tramellnet), longlines and splints. Based on the results of the
study, the basic lampara is a fishing gear that is actively operating in the sea by
sweeping the water column and being pulled by a ship. This basic lampara is
operated at a depth of 6 - 30 m. The operation technique consists of three stages,
namely setting, towing, and lifting the base lampara (hauling). The fish caught
during the research activities included stingray (Dasyatis sp), sukain fish
(Polynemus tetradactylum), white pomfret (Pampus argenteus), chicken feather
fish (Thryssa setirostris), gulama fish (Johnius trachycephalus) and thorn fish (
Hexanmatichthys sagor). The total catch obtained was 982 kg with a total of
10,681 individuals.
The research was carried out for 10 days and the catch was 982 kg with a
total of 10,861 species. The most catches on day 2 with a total catch of 125 kg
with a total of 865 fish and the least on day 5 with a catch of 79 kg with a total of
982 fish. The most fish caught during the study were 239 kg of chicken feathers
