Perancangan Pusat Batik Riau Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Ekspresionis

ABSTRACK
Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage, UNESCO has confirmed batik as a
Humanitarian Heritage for the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity
(Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity) on October 2, 2009.
The variety of batik motifs owned by Indonesia is very diverse, each region has its
own unique batik motifs.This UNESCO recognition has strategic value in terms of
promoting Indonesian batik to the world and can preserve the existence of batik
craftsmen from extinction. Riau typical batik has existed since the ancient Malay
kingdom of Daik Lingga around the 18-19 centuries, precisely in the Riau Islands
Province. The Riau Provincial Office carries out efforts to re-civilize the Riau Batik
culture by providing coaching and training on batik to the people in Riau Province.
However, the place does not produce batik anymore because there are no craftsmen.
The design of the Riau Batik Center aims to increase the public's attraction to Riau's
typical Batik and the need for a forum called the Riau Batik Center in which there are
various batik development and training activities, so that the public and tourists
get education about batik. In the design of the Riau Batik Center the approach that
will be used is Expressionism architecture because Expressionism architecture is a
theory that holds that a building is intended to convey something to the people who
observe it.
