Efektivitas Ekstrak Organik Buah Sirih Hutan (Piper Aduncum L.) Asal Riau Terhadap Mortalitas Hama Ulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J.E Smith) Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Corn (Zea mays L.) is the second important food crop after rice and some areas still use corn as a staple food in Indonesia. One of the problems faced in corn cultivation is the attack of the corn armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith). The corn armyworm S. frugiperda is an important pest in corn cultivation, because it can cause a decrease in production of 5-20% when the larvae attack the leaves and 100% when the larvae attack the corncobs. Pesticides from forest betel fruit (Piper aduncum L.) can be a safe alternative for controlling S. frugiperda. This study aims to obtain an effective concentration on the mortality of S. frugiperda. The research was carried out at the Plant Pest Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry and Natural Materials, Faculty of Engineering, Riau University, from February 2022 to April 2022, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment application consisted of concentrations of 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, and 1% forest betel fruit extract with ethyl acetate solvent. The results showed that the difference in concentration significantly affected the mortality of S. frugiperda. The effective concentration on mortality of S. frugiperda was a concentration of 0.8% organic extract of forest betel fruit with a total mortality of 82.50%, an initial time of death of 2.5 hours, and a time of death of 50% at 31 hours after application.
