Pengaruh Biochar Sekam Padi Dan Pupuk Tembaga (Cu) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Produksi Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea Mays Saccharata Sturt.) Di Lahan Gambut
ABSTRACT
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is very popular because it tastes
delicious, savory and sweet and can be processed into various kinds of food. The
demand for sweet corn is increasing in line with the increase in population and
various processed foods derived from sweet corn. Efforts to increase sweet corn
production by extensification, namely the program to expand the planting area to
peat land, need to be carried out because the land in Riau Province is dominated
by peatlands. This study aims to determine the interaction effect of the
combination of rice husk biochar and copper (Cu) fertilizer and the treatment
factors of rice husk biochar and copper (Cu) fertilizer on the growth and
production of sweet corn and to obtain the best dose of rice husk biochar and
copper (Cu) fertilizer for growth. and sweet corn production on peatlands. The
study was conducted experimentally using a factorial completely randomized
design (CRD). The first factor is the provision of rice husk biochar which consists
of 4 levels, namely B0 = without rice husk biochar (control), B1 = rice husk
biochar at a dose of 5 tons.ha-1, B2 = rice husk biochar at a dose of 10 tons.ha-1
and B3 = rice husk biochar dose of 15 tons.ha-1. The second factor, the copper
fertilizer (Cu) which consists of 3 levels, namely: C0 = Cu dose of 5 kg.ha-1, C1 =
Cu dose of 10 kg.ha-1 and C2 = Cu dose of 15 kg.ha-1. Parameters observed were
plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, length of ear, diameter of ear,
weight of cob with cob, weight of cob without cob, production per plot and
number of rows of seeds per ear. The results showed that the interaction of rice
husk biochar and copper fertilizer (Cu) as well as the single factor of rice husk
biochar and copper fertilizer (Cu) had a significant effect on the observations of
cob length, cob diameter, cob weight, cob weight without husk and number of
rows of seeds. Giving rice husk biochar at a dose of 10 ton.ha-1 and copper
fertilizer (Cu) at a dose of 15 kg.ha-1 and rice husk biochar at a dose of 10 ton.ha-1
and copper fertilizer (Cu) at a dose of 10 and 15 kg.ha-1 gave the best results on
the growth and production of sweet corn.
Keyword : rice husk biochar, copper fertilizer (Cu), sweet corn, peatlands.
