Parameter Genetik Dan Korelasi Karakter Kuantitatif Tanaman Cabai (Capsicum Sp.) Di Lahan Gambut

ABSTRACT
Chili productivity in Riau is still low due to several factors, namely the condition of the land where most peatlands have low soil fertility and pH. Not all plants are able to grow and develop properly. Through plant breeding activities, a selection is made that is able to overcome these problems. The aim of the researchwas to estimate the genetic parameters of the quantitative characters and the relationship between the quantitative characters and the yield of chili plants through correlation analysis. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau and on the peat land of Rimbo Panjang, Kampar. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of eight treatments and three replications to obtain 24 experimental units. The experimental unit consisted of 20 plants, 10 plants as samples. Parameters observed were flowering age, harvesting age, plant height, dichotomous height, stem diameter, fruit stalk length, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit flesh thickness, weight per fruit, number of fruit planted, and fruit weight per plant. Data were analyzed using SAS 9.00, then Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level and MINITAB 14. The results showed that all the observed chili plant characters had a very significant and significant effect on the analysis of variance. Characters with broad genetic diversity criteria in chili plants are harvesting age, fruit weight, fruit diameter and number of fruit planted, criteria for high heritability values are flowering age, harvesting age, plant height, dichotomous height, fruit weight, fruit stalk length, fruit diameter, fruit flesh thickness, number of fruit per plant and fruit weight per plant. Correlation analysis showed that there was a close relationship with the yield characters, namely weight per fruit, fruit length and fruit stalk length.
