Analisis Gender Dalam Pengelolaan Rimbo Larangan Di Desa Seberang Teratak Air Hitam Kecamatan Sentajo Raya Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi
ABSTRACT
The management of forests by Indigenous Law Communities (Masyarakat Hukum Adat, MHA) in various regions has demonstrated significant effectiveness in forest preservation, despite the fact that some forests lack official recognition as customary forests by the government. The involvement of communities in forest management frequently reveals disparities in gender roles, where contributions from men and women are unequal. This research aims to examine the status of women within the framework of customary law, the respective roles of each gender in the management of the Rimbo Larangan, and the ways in which customary regulations and institutions govern this management in the village of Seberang Teratak Air Hitam, located in Sentajo Raya District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. A qualitative methodology was adopted, employing data collection techniques such as literature reviews, observations, and in-depth interviews. Data analysis was performed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that while women occupy a prominent position in customary law, their mobility is restricted, leading to lower levels of participation in the management of the Rimbo Larangan compared to their male counterparts. The management structure of the Rimbo Larangan is overseen by Urang Onam Boleh, which includes four Datuk, four Menti, four Dubalang, and four Orang Siak. Activities undertaken involve planning, resource management, planting, patrolling, and forest maintenance. This management practice is guided by customary rules that include invitations, prohibitions, and taboos, with customary sanctions or debt obligations imposed for any violations.
Keywords: customary regulations, forest management, gender disparities, indigenous law communities, and rimbo larangan.
