Kearifan Lokal Perempuan Di Jorong Sungai Angek Nagari Simarasok Kecamatan Baso Kabupaten Agam (Kajian Sumbang Duo Baleh)
Sumbang Duo Baleh refers to twelve prohibitions or codes of decorum that govern the attitudes, behavior, and ethics of Minangkabau women to ensure alignment with customary and religious values. This study aims to explore the responses and efforts of Minangkabau women, particularly the millennial generation, in preserving the Sumbang Duo Baleh customary norms in Jorong Sungai Angek, Nagari Simarasok, Agam Regency. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and source triangulation. The research informants are migrant women aged 17–30 years who originate from Jorong Sungai Angek. The findings show that most informants are still familiar with and appreciate the values of Sumbang Duo Baleh, although not all are able to fully implement them in daily life. External cultural influences, technological developments, and modern lifestyles are the main factors contributing to the shift in values. Using Robert K. Merton’s theory of anomie, the study identifies three forms of adaptation to these norms: conformity (continuing to uphold the norms), innovation (adapting the values to modern life), and rebellion (rejecting the norms as outdated). This study highlights the crucial role of Bundo Kanduang in preserving customary values through education and exemplary conduct.
