PENGARUH LATIHAN IMAGERY TERHADAP TEKNIK DASAR PERMAINAN BOLA VOLI TIM GALAXY KUMBARA UTAMA
ABSTRACT
This research aims to examine the effect of imagery training on improving basic
volleyball skills. Imagery training is a mental exercise method that involves
visualizing technical movements without performing physical activity. The
research employed a pretest-posttest control group design with a total of 18
athletes, divided into two groups: experimental and control, each consisting of 9
participants. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental
group, with the average pretest score increasing from 8.03 to 25.37 in the
posttest. Meanwhile, the control group improved only from an average of 7.89 to
13.29. Statistically, the impact of imagery on the improvement of basic volleyball
skills reached 40.74%, which was 13.30% higher than the control group’s
improvement of only 27.44%. The t-test result for the experimental group was t =
4.631 > t-table = 1.859, indicating statistical significance. All members of the
experimental group showed individual improvements, with the highest score
increase reaching 21.70 points. In contrast, several control group members
experienced a decline in performance. These findings confirm that imagery
training effectively enhances technical performance, particularly in serving,
passing, and smashing. Therefore, imagery can be recommended as an integral
part of volleyball athlete training programs.
