Education has a strategic role in producing superior human resources that
are adaptive to the demands of the times. However, the quality of education is not
only determined by the curriculum and facilities, but also depends heavily on the
quality of teacher performance. In Batang Cenaku District, Indragiri Hulu
Regency, the results of observations and interviews showed that the low utilization
of learning technology, minimal participation in professional development, and low
teacher self-confidence were the main obstacles in improving the quality of
learning. In addition, the implementation of the principal's visionary leadership has
not been optimal, especially in terms of encouraging innovation and building a
productive work culture. This phenomenon shows that teacher performance is still
influenced by internal factors such as self-efficacy and external factors in the form
of the principal's leadership style.
The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the
principal's visionary leadership and self-efficacy influence the performance of
public elementary school teachers in Batang Cenaku District. This study is
important to obtain an empirical understanding of the factors that influence teacher
performance and as a basis for formulating strategies to improve the quality of
education. By identifying the relationship between visionary leadership and selfefficacy
on teacher performance, it is hoped that the results of this study can provide
a real contribution to the development of teacher professionalism and the
transformation of elementary school leadership in a sustainable manner.
This study uses a survey method with a quantitative approach and
regression analysis techniques. The sample in this study amounted to 152 State
Elementary School teachers selected from all schools in Batang Cenaku District.
Data collection was carried out through a closed questionnaire, which was then
analyzed descriptively and inferentially using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 26
for Windows.
The results of the study prove that the principal's visionary leadership and
self-efficacy have a significant influence on teacher performance. Partially, the
principal's visionary leadership shows a regression coefficient (β) of 0.483, which
means that every one-unit increase in visionary leadership will increase teacher
performance by 0.483 units. The t-value of 8.141 exceeds the t-table value of 1.976,
and the significance value (p-value) of 0.000 (p
