Pemetaan Potensi Energi Arus Laut Di Perairan Rupat Utara Dengan Pemodelan Hidrodinamika
ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in the waters alongside the North Rupat coastline. The purpose of this research was to analyze current velocity and convert it to electrical potential energy by the formula. The method used in this study was the survey and computation method. The survey was carried out ± 2 km from the coastline by using 8 stations spread around North Rupat waters and 1 station along for tidal observation. Data taken on the site were used to validate the hydrodynamic model. The hydrodynamic model in this study used structured grid mesh from coastline, bathymetry, wind, and tidal data from other available sources. Based on the result it is known that the current pattern in North Rupat waters was influenced by wind movement where the resulting movement is always in the same direction. The resulting dominant current direction is Northwest and North towards the Southeast and Northeast. In four tidal conditions, the highest current velocity is obtained at full tide conditions with current velocities ranging from 0.02 – 0.3 m/s compared to full ebb conditions with current velocities ranging from 0.04 – 0.1 m/s. Whereas in neap tide conditions, the current velocity ranges from 0.01 – 0.02 m/s and 0.01 – 0.03 m/s. The result shows that the potential of current energy on North Rupat waters generates a good amount of energy. By the estimation of current energy on North Rupat waters in 2022, the average electrical energy generated by marine currents is 30.05 W with the largest electric power of 125.41 W and the smallest electric power of 30.05 W.
