Model Isoterm Serbuk Buah Jabon Putih (Anthocephalus Cadamba Miq.) Kombinasi Asam Humat Pada Penjerapan Zat Warna Malachite Green
White jabon fruit (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.) has the potential to be used as a biosorbent because it contains cellulose, whose adsorption capacity can be enhanced through activation. Activation in this study used NaOH and was combined with humic compounds from peat water, such as humic acid, which is expected to increase the surface area and multiply the active sites on the biosorbent. This study aims to determine the efficiency and adsorption capacity of white jabon fruit powder biosorbent combined with humic acid in adsorbing Malachite Green, as well as to determine the appropriate adsorption isotherm model. The method used in this study was batch adsorption of Malachite Green using variations in adsorbate concentration (20, 40, 60 and 80 mg/L) and temperature (30°, 40° and 50°C). The surface morphology of the biosorbent was analyzed using SEM-EDS and the pore size of the biosorbent was determined using ImageJ software. The functional groups on the biosorbent were analyzed using FTIR. Characterization was performed according to SNI No. 06-3730-1995 standards, which included the adsorption capacity of Methylene Blue. Analysis using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer was used to determine the absorbance of Malachite Green before and after adsorption. Adsorption parameters were obtained at an optimal adsorbate concentration of 60 ppm with the best temperature of 30°C, achieving an adsorption efficiency of 99.46% and an adsorption capacity of 15.1283 mg/g. The Temkin adsorption isotherm model was used with a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.7939. Thermodynamics indicate that the adsorption process is spontaneous (∆G° < 0), exothermic (∆H° < 0) and accompanied by a decrease in system entropy (∆S° < 0), suggesting a physicochemical adsorption mechanism with a tendency toward the formation of specific interactions on the adsorbent surface. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the white jabon fruit powder biosorbent combined with humic acid is effective in adsorbing Malachite Green and parameters such as adsorbate concentration and temperature have been proven to influence adsorption efficiency and capacity.
