This research was motivated because based on information obtained from one of the Pancasila Education teachers at SMKN 1 Seberida, grade X students are actually active in the learning process, but the obstacle is that students are still less able to think critically in analyzing and expressing opinions in their own language from the results of their analysis. Many factors cause low critical thinking skills in students. One of them is the inappropriate learning model applied in the learning process.
Based on observations conducted through interviews with Pancasila Education subject teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Seberida, Pancasila Education teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Seberida There are several problems that arise in the conventional model related to students' opinion-expressing skills. Some of them are that some students still have difficulty in debating or convincing others about their ideas, which can hinder their ability to actively participate in group discussions. As well as differences in personality or learning styles, each student has a different personality and learning style, so some prefer to express their opinions verbally, while others are more comfortable expressing ideas through writing or other media. Conventional models do not optimally adapt to the learning styles of all students, which can affect their ability to express their opinions.
Therefore, researchers are interested in conducting research to determine the effect of the debate method with time tokens to improve students' opinion-expressing skills by going directly to the field and seeing real conditions in the
field. In addition to modifications to the learning model, in today's digital era, character strengthening is also needed. Based on research results from the World Economic Forum in the 2020 Future of Jobs report, there are four self-potentials that must be developed, namely self-manager, working with people, technology adaptation, and problem solving. Not only that, 4C skills are also very much needed in the 21st century, namely Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration.
The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is an influence of the debate method in improving students' opinion-expressing skills in the Pancasila Education subject of class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Seberida. The objectives of this study are: to determine the influence of the debate method on improving students' opinion-expressing skills in the Pancasila Education subject of class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Seberida.
This research is a quantitative research with an experimental method, where the design form used is an observation sheet. This study uses a random sampling technique in collecting the population and samples, and uses a homogeneity test to determine two experimental and control classes. The population in this study were 307 students of class X of SMKN 1 Seberida. The sample in this study was 72 students, divided into two classes, namely class X DKV2 as the experimental class and X DKV1 as the control class.
There is an influence of the debate method with time tokens to improve the ability to express opinions in the Pancasila education subject of class X SMKN Seberida, this can be seen after the t-test is carried out. Based on the calculation of the independent sample T-Test in table 4.42, it is obtained = 1.682 then determine df with the formula n-2. the sample in this study was 72 so that df = 72-2 = 70. based on df 70 at a significance level of 5% obtained = 1,666. This shows that the hypothesis in this study is accepted > (ha is accepted and H0 is rejected). So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the debate
method with time tokens on the skills of expressing opinions of class X students in the Pancasila Education subject at SMKN 1 Seberida.
