Pola Lingkaran Pertumbuhan Pada Otolith Ikan Paweh (Osteochilus Hasselti C.V) Di Danau Bunter Dan Sungai Air Hitam Provinsi Riau
Osteochilus hasselti inhabit the Bunter Lake and the Air Hitam River. A
research aims to understand the pattern of otolith growth rings of that fish has been
conducted in September to November 2019. The fish were caught using nets,
once/week, 4 times. There were 125 fishes (60 fishes from the Bunter Lake and 65
fishes from the Air Hitam River). The otolith were removed and manually shaved.
Growth ring pattern was studied using a binocular microscope. The otolith of fish
from the Bunter Lake was 1.7-2.25 length mm and 0.0008-0.0020 g weight.
Whereas that of the fish from the Air Hitam River was 1.725-2.25 mm length and
0.0009-0.0024 g weight. The maximum number of dark ring in the otolith of fish
from both areas was 2. Result shown that the distance between the nucleus and the
first dark ring was varied from 0.2- 0425 mm, indicates that the first dark ring were
formed individually and they were not formed by periodical incident during the fish
life. Water quality in the sampling area was good and it may be sufficient to support
the life of O. hasselti.
