Studi Perifiton Pada Substrat Buatan Keramik Kasar Di Waduk Pangean Kecamatan Pangean Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Provinsi Riau
Periphyton is a group of organism that grow in immersed substrates such
as rock, wood, plant and aquatic animals (natural substrates) or artificial substrates
(object glass, ceramic, zinc, and bamboo). Research aims to understand the type
and abundance of periphyton attached on rough ceramic substrate has been carried
out in July-August 2019. Samples were taken from four stations, namely Station
1 in the riverine, station 2 and 3 in the transtition, and station 4 in the lacustrine
area. In each station, there were 2 sampling points in the surface and in 2 Secchi
depth. Samplings were conducted once/week for a 3 weeks period. Water quality
parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved
oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, and phosphate. Results shown that there were
5 classes of periphyton that consist of 36 species present, namely
Bacillariophyceae (15 species), Chlorophyceae (11 species), Cyanophyceae (5
species), Euglenophyceae (3 species), and Xhanthophyceae (2 species). The
periphyton abundance in the Pangean reservoir was 3,825-9,700 cells/cm2. Water
quality parameters are as follows: temperature 29-310C, transparency 93-102
cm, depth 248-388 cm, pH 5, dissolved oxygen 5-6.2 mg/L, free carbon
dioxside 19-35 mg/L, nitrate 0.027-0.065 mg/L and phosphate 0.033-0.067
mg/L. Based on the types of periphyton, Pangean Reservoir can be categorized as
mesotrophic.
