This study aims to determine the News Writing Skills of Elementary School Teacher Education Students, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. The formulation of the problem in this research is How are News Writing Skills for Elementary School Teacher Education Students, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. This research consists of one variable analysis of news writing skills, with four indicators: news elements, news topics and titles, language, and news content. The population in this study were elementary school teacher education students batch 2018 and batch 2019 as many as 243 students. The data collection technique used stratified random sampling with a sample size of 71 people. News collection through google form with a number of assessment criteria as many as 25 items, a maximum score of the assessment instrument 4. Based on the findings of descriptive analysis research, the news element factor is one of the most dominant causes in the news writing skills of elementary school teacher education students, as seen from the mean value of the news element. the highest among the four factors showed a mean value of 83.8 with a very good interpretation. Then the news language shows a mean value of 81.3 with a very good interpretation. Topics and news titles get a mean value of 65.4 with a good interpretation. The news content obtained a mean value of 73.6 which is in a good interpretation. From the results of the study, it is known that the ability of students to choose news and the completeness of news elements is good. However, the final presentation still needs improvement in terms of news writing to news coverage.
