The formulation of this research problem is 1). How high is the social intelligence of
teenagers in West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency? 2). How high is the
use of Facebook social media in West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency?
3). Is there an influence of Facebook social media on the social intelligence of teenagers
in West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency? Research Objectives 1). To
find out: To find out the level of social intelligence of teenagers in West Maredan
Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency. 2). To find out the level of use of Facebook
social media in the village West Maredan, Tualang District, Siak Regency. 3). To
determine the influence of social media use on the social intelligence of teenagers in
West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency. This type of quantitative research
is ex-post facto, namely a type of research where the independent variable is an event that
has already happened, then traces it backwards to find out the factors that could have
caused the event. The population in this study were 343 teenagers aged 17-19 years in
West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency. In sampling, the Stratified
Proportionate Random Sampling technique was used. So, the sample in this study
consisted of 185 teenagers, with an error rate of 5% using the Slovin Formula. Then the
instrument was tested on 30 teenagers aged 17-19 in West Maredan Village, Tualang
District, Siak Regency. This research data collection method uses documentation and
questionnaires. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used in this research are
descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the
research are: Descriptive analysis based on variables obtained the level of social
intelligence of teenagers in West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency with a
mean of 3.80 which is in the high interpretation. Based on the variables, the level of
social media use in West Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency was obtained
with a mean of 3.84 which is in the high interpretation. Obtained a significant influence
between social media variables (X) on social intelligence (Y) in West Maredan Village,
Tualang District, Siak Regency, with a large influence of 28.1% with a low interpretation,
because there is still 71.9% which is determined by other factors that are not part of this
research.
