This study aims to determine and analyze the extent of the role of the Indragiri Hilir Regency Education Office in carrying out its main tasks and functions and to determine the factors causing children to drop out of school. The main problem in this study is the lack of interest in children to go to school, weak family economy, and friends. This study uses a qualitative research method with data sources from interviews, observations and documentation. Based on the indicators used in this study, it can be concluded that the role of the Education Office in carrying out its duties has been going quite well, based on the obstacles found when this study was conducted, the Indragiri Hilir Regency Education Office wants to be more assertive in taking a policy so that the number of children dropping out of school that occurs in Indragiri Hilir Regency can be minimized. The benefits of the research conducted are, academic benefits so that it can be a source or alternative in developing knowledge about the Role of the Education Office in Overcoming Children Dropping Out in Indragiri Hilir Regency, and empirical benefits can be used as consideration for students who want to research in the same field. Based on the research analysis and the obstacles found, the Indragiri Hilir Regency Education Office should conduct outreach to increase public awareness regarding the importance of education.
