Etnografi Komunikasi Seni Pertunjukan Berdah Pada Acara Pernikahan Adat Melayu Dikecamatan Mandah
Berdah is an art form with Islamic nuances, which conveys praise to Allah SWT and praise to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, which combines vocal elements, traditional music and dynamic dance movements. Berdah art is usually found in traditional Malay wedding processions in Mandah District, one of which is in Cahaya Baru Village. The purpose of this research is to find out the situations, events, and acts of communication in the Berdah tradition in Malay wedding customs in Cahaya Baru Mandah Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency.
This research uses qualitative methods with an ethnographic communication approach. The informants in this study consisted of 7 people according to the criteria selected using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques in this research were through observation, interviews and documentation. With data analysis techniques using data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The data examination technique used is triangulation.
The results of the research show that the communicative situation in the traditional Berdah performance is carried out at the wedding location in the evening at 22.00 WIB until dawn, attended by related people or relatives who are related by the kinship system, such as from the families of the bride and groom, namely the bride's parents, grandfather, grandmothers, uncles, aunts, nephews, apart from that it also involved neighbors, relatives and the community who live in Cahaya Baru Village. Meanwhile, communicative events include the entire series of components that build communication, namely the type of event, topic, purpose and function, participants, message form, message content, sequence of actions, rules of interaction and norms of interpretation in the Berdah performance tradition.
