Efektivitas Hukum Penyelesaian Pelanggaran Kecelakaan Lalu Lintas Kategori Ringan Melalui Restorative Justice Di Kota Pekanbaru

ABSTRACT
Traffic accidents are frequent offenses that can result in material and immaterial losses. In Pekanbaru City, the number of traffic accidents increases every year. As an alternative settlement, restorative justice is often used by the people of Pekanbaru City because the settlement is considered to prioritize recovery rather than retaliation. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis research is to find out how the regulation of the settlement of minor category traffic accident violations through restorative justice in Pekanbaru City and the extent of its effectiveness.
This type of research is sociological or empirical juridical legal research. With the research location located at Polresta Pekanbaru, while the population and sample are all parties related to the problem under study. This research uses data sources in the form of primary data and secondary data, and data collection techniques are carried out by means of interviews.
Based on the results of the study, it shows that the rules related to restorative justice are regulated through the rules of related agencies, namely through the National Police Chief Regulation, Attorney General Regulation, and Supreme Court Regulation. However, the implementation has not been fully effective in reducing the high number of traffic accidents because there are still obstacles, namely the lack of public understanding of the settlement through restorative justice, the lack of professionalism of the officers on duty, and the lack of public awareness.
