Uji Beberapa Konsentrasi Tepung Bunga Cengkeh (Syzygium Aromaticum (L.) Merr. Dan Perry) Untuk Mengendalikan Hama Sitophilus Zeamais M. Pada Biji Jagung Di Penyimpanan
Sitophilus zeamais M. is a pest that always causes damage to the post-harvest process of corn. The use of clove powder as a vegetable insecticide is an alternative in controlling S. zeamais pests. This study aims to obtain the best concentration of clove powder to control S. zeamais pests on corn kernels in storage. The research conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from October to December 2017. The experiment using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The study consisted of two parallelized trials, the first experiment was 20 units, the second experiment was 20 units, and the total experimental 40 units. The treatment is the concentration of clove powder, which is 0%, 3%, 6% and 9%. Observation parameters included the initial time of death of S. zeamais, lethal time 50 (LT50), daily mortality, total mortality, weight loss of corn seeds, damage to corn seeds, and individual growth of S. zeamais of the first generation. The results showed that giving 9% clove powder to cause the fastest death time of 303,60 hours, daily mortality of 4%, total mortality of 24%, shrinkage of corn seed weight 3,80%, damage to corn seeds 12,86% and the average number of S. zeamais individual additions is 23,00. The conclusion of the study is that giving 9% clove powder tends to give the best results in killing S. zeamais, but has not been effective in controlling S. zeamais pests in storage.
