Karakteristik Mutu Buah Kelapa Dalam (Cocos Nucifera L.) Dan Kelapa Hibrida (Cocos Nucifera L. Hybrid)
ABSTRACT
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the plantation commodities with economic
value due to its various benefits. Coconut plants are widely cultivated by
communities, both as a source of oil and as raw material for the food industry.
However, the limited availability of superior seeds and the increasingly low
productivity are the main problems. This study aims to analyze the quality
characteristics of Tall Coconut and Hybrid Coconut. The research used a nonexperimental
comparative observational approach. The samples consisted of two
groups based on coconut types: A = Tall Coconut and B = Hybrid Coconut. The
observed parameters included the number of bunches per tree, the number of fruits
per bunch, fruit weight with mesocarp (g), coconut fruit circumference (cm),
coconut water weight (g), endocarp thickness (mm), endosperm thickness (mm),
endosperm weight (g), coconut oil yield (%), and coconut oil moisture content
(%). The difference in coconut type significantly affected the number of bunches
per tree, the number of fruits per bunch, fruit weight with mesocarp, endosperm
thickness, and endosperm weight.
