Pengaruh Kecerdasan Emosional Dan Altruisme Terhadap Kompetensi Sosial Guru Smp Negeri Kecamatan Bathin Solapan, Kabupaten Bengkalis
Teachers must have professional standards by mastering the material and learning strategies and can encourage their students to study seriously, to be able to obtain good results in a series of educational and learning activities, a teacher is required to have certain qualifications or what is called competence. Competence has an important meaning in everyday life. The competence possessed by a person can be a tool to survive in the midst of tight competition to get a job. It is undeniable that competence must also be possessed and developed by prospective teacher students as capital to educate the next generation of the nation to become quality human beings.
The social competence of teachers has an important value. The important value of the social competence of teachers lies in the personal role of teachers who live in the midst of society to socialize with their community, for that teachers need to have this ability politely and flexibly with the community through sports, religious and youth activities. Flexibility in socializing must be possessed by teachers so that they can socialize freely and not be rigid in socializing. Therefore, teachers are not only required to master the field of science, learning methods, motivate students, have high skills and broad insight into the world of education. However, one must also have a deep understanding of human nature.
This study raises the research problem of: (1) Is there an influence of emotional intelligence on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency? (2) Is there an influence of altruism on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency? (3) Is there an influence of emotional intelligence and altruism together on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency? Then based on the formulation of the problem, the objectives of this study include; (1) To find out and analyze the influence of emotional intelligence on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency. (2) To find out and analyze the influence of altruism on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency. (3) To find out and analyze the influence of emotional intelligence and altruism together on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency.
This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of research that will be used is the ex post facto type of research. In this study, three variables were tested to determine the extent of the influence between the independent and dependent variables. The variable X1 (independent) is Emotional Intelligence, the variable X2 (independent) is Altruism, and the variable Y (dependent) is the social competence of teachers. The population in this study were all State Junior High Schools in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency, totaling 244 teachers, the research sample was 152 teachers at State Junior High Schools in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency. The trial was conducted on 30 school teachers who were taken from the remaining samples. The data collection technique was in the form of an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Meanwhile, what was used to process and analyze the data in this study was the research data profile analysis technique in the form of descriptions, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The research data was analyzed using the SPSS (statistical package for social science) Version.25 program.
The results of the study showed that (1) there was a significant and positive influence between the emotional intelligence variable on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency, and the magnitude of the influence was 55.1% with a moderate interpretation, because there was still 44.9% determined by other factors that were not part of the study (2) a significant and positive influence of the altruism variable on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency and the magnitude of the influence was 56.8% with a moderate interpretation, because there was still 43.2% determined by other factors that were not part of the study, and (3) a significant and positive influence of the emotional intelligence and altruism variables on the social competence of junior high school teachers in Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency and the magnitude of the influence was 57.7% with a moderate interpretation, because there was still 42.3% determined by other factors that were not part of the study
