Prarancangan Pabrik Dimetil Karbonat Dari Methanol Proses Oxidative Carbonylation Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Methanol–Water-Dmc (D-101)
Dimethyl carbonate is a chemical commonly used as a starting material for organic synthesis in the manufacture of medicines in the medical field, chemicals for the agricultural sector, as a reactant in polyurethane production and as an additive for vehicle fuel. The manufacture of dimethyl carbonate at this factory uses an oxidative carbonylation process. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 17,000 tons/year which will be established in the city of Bontang, East Kalimantan. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is the Methanol-Water-DMC (D-101) Distillation column which functions to separate methanol and dimethyl carbonate from water with a dimethyl carbonate purity of 83.3%. This Distillation Column is operated at a pressure of 1 atm and a dew point temperature of 360.09 ⁰K and a bubble point temperature of 383.08 ⁰K. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to build. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value of 50%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 4 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 18.43%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.724%
Keywords: Dimethyl Carbonate, Methanol-Water-DMC Distillation Column, Oxidative Carbonylation.
