Pengaruh Kebijakan Moneter Terhadap Ketimpangan Distribusi Pendapatan Provinsi Riau
ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the impact of monetary policy on income
distribution in Riau Province, with a primary focus on the real interest rate and
inflation variables. Income distribution is measured using the Gini Coefficient,
while secondary data used in this study was obtained from the Central Statistics
Agency (BPS) and Bank Indonesia for the period 2005-2023. The analysis method
used in this research is multiple linear regression to examine the relationship
between the real interest rate, inflation, and income inequality. The results indicate
that the real interest rate has a positive impact on income inequality in Riau
Province. An increase in the real interest rate tends to worsen inequality, as higherincome
groups with larger financial assets gain more compared to lower-income
groups that are more reliant on access to credit. Meanwhile, inflation does not have
an effect on income inequality, although in theory, inflation can affect purchasing
power and income distribution. The R-squared value of 33.18% suggests that the
real interest rate and inflation variables only explain a small portion of the
variation in income distribution, while the remaining variation is influenced by
other factors outside the scope of this study's model. Therefore, a more inclusive
monetary policy, combined with fiscal policies that support lower-income groups,
is necessary to reduce income inequality in Riau Province.
