Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Matematika Dengan Menerapkan Model Kooperatif Tipe Numbered Head Together Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis Siswa Pada Materi Matriks Kelas XI
The ability of students' mathematical understanding in Matrix material in High Schools is still low. This is due to the less active students in learning, limited teaching materials and presenting formulas instantly. Using conventional learning process is ineffective and does not meet the needs of students. Mathematical understanding ability should be possessed by students in learning mathematics; this ability is an important foundation in solving mathematical and real life problems. Someone who has mathematical understanding ability means that the person already knows what he has learned, the steps used, and able to use concepts in mathematical context or outside mathematical context. The objective of this research was to produce a valid, practical, and effective learning tool by applying a cooperative model of Numbered Head Together (NHT) type to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities in the Matrix material of grade XI.
The type of the research was R and D (Research and Development). The development of model and procedure learning tools are adapted from the Borg and Gall development model. The development design model consisted of ten steps namely: (1) research and data collection; (2) planning; (3) product draft development; (4) initial field trials; (5) revising the main products; (6) main field trials; (7) revising operational products; (8) operational field testing; (9) revising the final product; (10) Dissemination and Implementation. In this research and development, researchers limited the research steps, namely the 8th and 9th steps are not used. In accordance with the characteristics of students, the researchers designed a learning device by implementing a cooperative model of Numbered Head Together which consisted of four encounters. The design of the learning device was then arranged according to the learning device writing format. Learning tools that have been prepared are validated by the validator. The results of the RPP and LKPD validation showed the criteria is very valid with an average validation results sequentially of 3.81% and 3.84%, meaning that the learning device was worth testing.
The valid learning tools were then tested in small groups, to 15 students of Grade XI Science of State Senior High School 2 Rumbio Jaya. Students are asked to do developed LKPD, and then fill in a questionnaire of responses intended to assess the readability of the LKPD. A product, then, revision was carried out by analyzing deficiencies found in limited trials. LKPD was revised according to the results obtained in a limited trial. Furthermore, field trials were conducted on 25 students of Grade XI Science of State Senior High School 2 Rumbio Jaya. Field trials aimed to assess the practicality of learning devices on a larger scale. After that, the researcher gives a matter of the mathematical understanding ability test to see the effectiveness of the learning device developed. The learning tools were, then, revised according to the results obtained in the field trial. Product revision was done by analyzing deficiencies found in field trials.
Practicality results showed that the criteria is very practical, with the percentage of small group trials of 91.22%, then the device can be tested on field trials. Field trials produced an average of practicality of 90.20% and the results of the effectiveness test can be seen that students who have very good and good KPM qualifications are 24 people with a percentage of 96%. Thus, it could be concluded that the learning tools developed using the Numbered Head Together (NHT) type of cooperative learning model is effective to improve students' mathematical understanding skills in the subject matter Matrix of Class XI.
