Analisis Perbandingan Kinerja Modulasi Langsung Dan Eksternal Pada Sistem Wavelength Division Multiplexing (Wdm) Radio Over Fiber

ABSTRACT
Radio Over Fiber (ROF) technology is a technology that combines fiber access networks with wireless systems where ROF uses fiber optic cables as an intermediary medium to obtain greater transmission speeds compared to direct transmission. Optical signal modulation can be transmitted in 2 ways, namely by direct optical modulation and external optical modulation. In this study ROF was designed using Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, with a wavelength division multiplexing system. The radio frequency signal input modulations used are 4-QAM, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM. The wavelength division multiplexing system uses 2-WDM, 4-WDM and 8-WDM. The analysis was carried out by comparing the output of the direct and external modulation systems after adding WDM to the circuit using optisystem 7.0. The simulation is carried out using a 60 GHz frequency with a fiber length of 0 km to 5 km. The simulation results show that there is a very large power decrease in the RF signal that is received repeatedly on fiber lengths at distances of 1 km and 3 km in direct modulation with a Q-factor value of 0 and 0 for BER values 1 and 1 while in external modulation at a distance 1 km and 3.1 km Q-factor values 0 and 1.682 for BER 1 and 1 values.
