Perancangan Urban Farming Hub Dengan Pendekatan Sustainable Architecture Di Kota Padang

Traditional communities already concerned with food security by maintaining their own food continuity. One of biggest ethnic in Indonesia is Minangkabau who have the philosophy ‘alam takambang jadi guru’, making the nature as the life lesson for reaching a harmony and adaptive live in the future. This concept applied by them to adapt during or after disaster or unforeseen condition. Sometimes a family provide a food barn (rangkiang) and make farm in their own yard according to their proverb ‘tanam nan bapucuak paliharo nan baangok’. In line with the concept of urban farming, urban farming become one of government programs to ensure food security through preserving food sustainability. Padang city it self has shown interest in urban farming as seen in number of community have been formed. However, knowledge about urban farming tends to be limited for certain communities. This causes lack of motivation to do urban farming in their own yard. With these consideration, the Urban Farming Hub was designed to shift the paradigm about urban farming also provide education and information through sustainable food practices in Padang City using Sustainable Architecture approach.
