ABSTRACT
Pekanbaru, as a fast-growing city in Riau Province, is experiencing a surge in housing demand in line with population growth and internal migration. This increase in demand, especially for vertical housing in the form of exclusive rentals, raises social and environmental challenges, such as reduced social interaction between residents and inefficient energy use. For this reason, it is necessary to design Exclusive Rental Rooms to answer increasing residential needs while addressing social and environmental challenges that prioritize health, resource efficiency and sustainability. The design of this exclusive rental room uses qualitative research methods through literature studies and observations of residential trends and settlement patterns. The design of this Exclusive Rental Room uses a tangible metaphor approach which is applied to integrate a design that encourages social interaction between residents as well as the use of environmentally friendly and efficient technology. The ultimate goal of this design is to create rental housing that not only meets residents' physical needs, but also supports environmental sustainability and improves residents' quality of life through healthy, efficient and interactive spaces.
