Perancangan Urban Farming Education Center Dengan Penerapan Architecture Biophilic Di Pekanbaru

ABSTRACT
The city of Pekanbaru is facing a significant increase in population each year, triggering a rising demand for food, a decline in environmental quality, and minimal utilization of productive land for agriculture due to low public awareness. To address the barriers to urban farming in Pekanbaru, an Urban Farming Education Center is designed with a Biophilic Architecture approach as a solution for food sustainability through education, research, and agricultural practices. Biophilic architecture is applied to create spaces that support human interaction with natural elements, enhance environmental quality, and provide a holistic experience that connects people with nature. This research employs a qualitative method through literature study, observation, and case analysis, as well as a research by design methodology to formulate the design concept comprehensively. With this design, it becomes a strategic guideline for the government and society to meet sustainable food needs, increase interest in urban farming, and strengthen human connections with nature amidst urban development.
