Studi Kinerja Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution Pekanbaru

Kaharuddin Nasution road is a collector road with 4 lanes 2-way split (4 / 2D)
located in Simpang Tiga village, Bukit Raya district of Pekanbaru city, the
performance of Kaharuddin Nasution road experienced a decline due to
population growth, growth in the number of motor vehicles and activities at the
roadside, so that the degree of saturation was high and cause the congestion to
happen. To prove this hypothesis, the research using direct survey method was
conducted and the data was calculated by using Manual Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia
(MKJI, 1997) about the roads in the city. The research was conducted to obtain
data and to identify the existing problems, thus, the performance of Kaharuddin
Nasution road could be measured. Based on the result, the peak traffic volume at
the South-North direction happened at the day off specifically at the time of
16.30-17.30 which was 1.991,60 smp/hour, the road capacity was 2.914,56
smp/hour, the saturation degree was 0.68 and the travel speed was 36.72 km/hour.
In contrast, the peak traffic volume of North-South direction occured on weekdays
and school time from 17.30-18.30 which was 2109.05 smp/hour, the road capacity
was 2.793,12 smp/hour, the degree of saturation was 0.76, and travel speed was
35,36 km/hour. The South-North direction of Kaharuddin Nasution road in
Pekanbaru was categorized as the B level service, while the North-South direction
was categorized as the D level service, which traffic flow approaching unstable.
