Pengujian Pengaruh Jumlah Sudu Impeler Terhadap Kinerja Pump As Turbine (Pat) Untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air Pikohidro
ABSTRACT
The need for electrical energy in remote areas is still a challenge, especially due to limited access to conventional electricity networks. One potential and efficient solution is the use of Pump as Turbine (PAT) technology, namely the use of a centrifugal pump in reverse to generate electrical energy from water flow. This study aims to examine the effect of variations in the number of impeller blades on PAT performance in a small-scale hydropower plant (picohydro) scenario. This study was designed experimentally in the laboratory using three variations in the number of impeller blades, namely 9, 10, and 12 blades. Testing was carried out in a closed system using AC and DC generators, as well as variations in loading conditions and valve openings. The main parameters to be measured include efficiency, flow rate, voltage, current, and shaft rotation. The ultimate goal of this study is to determine the most optimal impeller configuration in generating electrical energy efficiently. The results of the study are expected to be an important contribution to the development of renewable energy systems that are economical, simple, and easy to apply in remote areas. In addition, this study can enrich the literature on PAT design and optimization based on impeller hydraulic characteristics.
