Rancang Bangun Alat Monitoring Dan Pengontrol Suhu Ruang Kuliah Fakultas Teknik Universitas Riau Berbasis Internet Of Things (Iot)
ABSTRACT
The classrooms at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Riau, serve as venues for teaching and learning activities. To ensure a comfortable learning environment, it is essential to maintain ideal room temperature and humidity levels. Based on a 7-day measurement in Classroom C.305 at the Faculty of Engineering, the average room temperature was recorded at 26.93 °C, and the average humidity level was 68.96%. These values indicate that the room conditions do not meet the standards set by the Reference Guide for Indoor Air in Schools by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). Therefore, a flexible, real-time temperature monitoring and control system is needed to help maintain optimal environmental conditions and improve energy efficiency. To address this, an automatic room temperature control device was developed. The system integrates a DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor, a relay module connected to an AC remote control functioning as a switch to regulate the AC’s operation, a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller for connecting the system to a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for real-time monitoring, and a Real-Time Clock (RTC) module for scheduling the AC’s operation. Two user interfaces are utilized: Blynk for real-time online monitoring via smartphone, and ThingSpeak for storing recorded measurement data. Additionally, the PZEM-004T sensor is used to measure the AC’s electrical power consumption. After integration, testing showed that the DHT22 sensor had a relative error of only 1.015%, while the PZEM-004T exhibited a relative current error of 24.9%, and each relay channel operated responsively. Overall, the system performed as expected. Prior to the installation of the monitoring and control system, the weekly average room temperature was 26.93 °C with a humidity level of 68.96%, which fell short of the desired standard. After the system was implemented, the average temperature decreased to 25.50 °C and the humidity to 63.82%, indicating that the system successfully met the applicable standard.
