Analisis Rugi Penyambungan Serat Optik Mode Tunggal Pada Sistem Jaringan Telekomunikasi Menggunakan Simulasi Optifiber

Fiber optics have revolutionized modern communication by boosting data transmission efficiency and channel capacity through high transfer speeds, with SMF, a light-based medium, offering significant advantages like wide bandwidth and low signal attenuation. However, fiber optics aren't immune to technical issues, particularly splice loss, which diminishes optical signal power due to imperfect fiber connections, thereby affecting communication system range, signal quality, and reliability. This research, using OptiFiber simulations, analyzed how angular misalignment impacts splice loss in five different SMF types. Tests were conducted with misalignments from 0.1° to 1° at both 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths. The simulations showed that increased angular misalignment directly correlates with higher splice loss across all tested SMF types. While different SMFs responded uniquely, some demonstrated greater resilience to larger misalignments. Quantitatively, at a 1° angular misalignment, the lowest splice loss was observed in SMF-28e+, with values of 0.7299 dB at 1310 nm and 0.6720 dB at 1550 nm. This study provides crucial insights into angular misalignment tolerance in various SMF types, offering vital considerations for the design and implementation of fiber optic telecommunication networks.
