penerapan model problem based learning (pbl) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik kelas viii4 smp negeri 19 pekanbaru
Mathematics learning often faces challenges in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities (KPMM), especially in statistics material. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is one of the approaches believed to enhance this ability by actively involving students in the learning process. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the subjects were students of the 8th -grade class 4 at SMP Negeri 19 Pekanbaru during the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year for implementation of the PBL model in statistics material. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, followed by pre-tests and post-tests to measure the development of KPMM. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities as well as the results of mathematical problem-solving ability tests, which were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show a significant improvement in learning activities and students' KPMM from cycle I to cycle II. The average N-gain score increased from 0.69, categorized as moderate in cycle I, to 0.82, categorized as high in cycle II. These findings prove that the application of the PBL model is effective in improving the mathematics learning process and enhancing mathematical problem-solving abilities in statistics material. This study recommends the continuous implementation of the PBL model to encourage more active, creative, and meaningful mathematics learning.
