This research is motivated by previous research that shows the low mathematical connection ability of students. To respond to this, the researcher conducted an experiment entitled the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on the mathematical connection ability of fifth grade elementary school students. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the RME approach on students' mathematical connection ability. This type of research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method of the non-equivalent control group design type. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 40 Pekanbaru with the research subjects being class VB students as the experimental class and class VA as the control class. The data collection technique in this study used test questions and documentation. The results found showed that using the RME approach had an effect on the mathematical connection ability of fifth grade students which increased. Based on the hypothesis test using the Mann Whitney test with a significance level of 0.001
