Hubungan Derajat Infestasi Soil Transmitted Helminths Dengan Status Gizi Anak Sekolah Dasar Di Daerah Pesisir Sungai Rokan Kecamatan Rokan IV Koto Kabupaten Rokan Hulu
Worm infestation are still common and still a health problem worldwide, including in Indonesia. One of the many causes is by groups of soil transmitted helminths (STH). The most common etiologic agents are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, and hookworm (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale). Soil transmitted helminths is commonly found is elementary student, in which it may cause different clinical symptoms regarding to species and degree of STH infestation. The more eggs found in the feses, the higher the degree of STH infestation, and it will affect the nutritional status. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the degree of STH infestation and nutritional status among elementary student in the coastal area of Rokan river, Rokan IV Koto District of Rokan Hulu. This study used analytic method with cross sectional approach and proportional random sampling technique. The results of the study from 77 subject, 27 out of 77 children (35.1%) were infested by STH and 60 children (77.9%) had a normal nutritional status. Based on the degree of STH infestation, it was found that 1(3,7%) with severe degree and 26 children (96.3%) with mild degree of STH infestation. Fisher test was used to analyzed the relationship between degree of STH infestation and nutritional status, and for that reason, two cell were merged. The analysis conduded that there was no significant relationship between degree of STH infestation and nutritional status (p = 0.222).
