Hubungan Higienitas Kuku Tangan Dengan Infestasi Soil Transmitted Helminths Murid Sekolah Dasar Di Daerah Pesisir Sungai Rokan Kecamatan Rokan Iv Koto Kabupaten Rokan Hulu
Soil transmitted helminths (STH) are the type of intestinal nematode worms which need soil to progessing of infection. Infestation of STH is often found in human and requires world’s concern. Tropical areas with bad hygiene like Indonesia are the place where infestation of STH is mostly found. Fingernails’ hygiene is one of the risk factor of STH’s infestation. The most common etiologic agents are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura and hookworm (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale). The research aimed to determine the relation between fingernails’ hygiene with the infestation of STH in elementary students. This research was using analytic method with cross-sectional approach and done within August 2016 until January 2017 with total samples of 77 students. Chi square test was done to determine the relationship between the variables. Based on the stool examination was found that the occurrence of STH’s infestation is 35,1% while bad fingernails’ hygiene is 80,5%. Data analysis showed that there is no significant relationship between fingernails’s hygiene and infestation of STH (p=0,655)
