Drug Related Problems Pada Pasien Geriatri Yang Dirawat Di Ruang Rawat Intensif Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2016
Elderly patients experienced several chronic illnesses simultaneously (multipatology) so received more drugs. The aging process results in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic changes in medications. The purpose of this research was to know the incidence of Drug Related Problems (DPRs) in geriatric patients who treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Arifin Achmad of Riau Province period January – December 2016. This research was a retrospective descriptive using secondary data in the form of medical record. The sample used as many as 65 samples that have been accordance with inclusion criteria. The profile of geriatric patients who treated in the ICU shows that the number of men more than women. The largest age group was 60 – 74 years (72,3%). There was an incidence of DPRs in geriatric patients treated in the ICU that is inappropriate drug selection based on Beers criteria 2012 is a type of drug (2,9%). Based on guidelines of Geriatric Dosage Handbook assessed that sub therapy there was 22 cases (3,8%), high dosage was 15 cases (2,6%), improper frequency was 72 cases (12,4%), and contra indication therapy was 3 cases (0,5 %). Assessment using Medscape application there was 661 potential drug interactions and most moderate was 58,5%. Duplication therapy was 13 cases (2,2%). Polypharmacy was occurred in 54 patients (83.1%). Geriatric patients are at risk for DRPs due to multipathology conditions that requires a lot of drugs and pharmacology changes related the aging process.
