Hubungan Kadar Glukosa Darah Dengan Fungsi Kognitif Pada Pasien Lanjut Usia Di Panti Tresna Werdha Khusnul Khotimah Pekanbaru
Elderly is a natural process when someone reaches age over 60 years. Decreased cognitive function is often found in elderly patients caused by blood glucose level changes. The aim of this study is to determine the association of blood glucose level and cognitive function in elderly patients in the Tresna Werdha Khusnul Khotimah Orphanage Pekanbaru. This is a descriptive analytical study with cross-sectional approach. The data were obtained by measuring the patient’s blood glucose level using glucometer and assessing the cognitive function using Moca-Ina. There were 35 samples obtained in this study and the variables measured were blood glucose level and cognitive function. There were 18 patients (51,42%) with high blood glucose level, 6 patients (17,14%) with low blood glucose level and 11 patients (31,42%) were normal. 33 patients (94,3%) had impaired cognitive function in the cognitive assessment. Fisher’s Exact Test analysis showed there was no significant association between blood glucose level and cognitive function in elderly patients in the Tresna Werdha Khusnul Khotimah Orphanage Pekanbaru with p-value 0,118.
