Efek Pemberian Asam Alfa Lipoat Terhadap Gambaran Histopatologi Ginjal Tikus Yang Diinduksi Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2
Diabetic is a group of metabolic abnormalities with characteristics of hyperglycemia that occurs due to insulin secretion defects, insulin action or both. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) has several antioxidant effect such as binding ROS (radical oxygen species), regenerating endogen antioxidant and exacerbating cell damage. This study used fifteen Wistar adult male rats were divided into three groups, labelled as control, DM and DM+ALA. Diabetic rats was induced by steptozotocin 50 mg/kg and nicotinamid 110 mg/kg. The experiment was carried out for 3 weeks. Statistical test result showed there were significant difference between control and diabetic rat group (p=0,008), DM and DM + ALA group (p=0,008), but there were no significant difference between control and DM + ALA group (p=0,690). Thus it can be concluded that giving ALA 60 mg/kg bodyweight for 3 week can decrease glomerulosclerosis in diabetic rat. Key Words: alpha lipoic acid, type 2 diabetes, glomerulosklerosis
